Sample Development Stages (4 Phases)

Phase 1: Concept & Brief (Days 1-3)

Before any formulation begins, you and the factory align on requirements:

Phase 2: R&D Formulation (Days 3-14)

The factory's R&D lab develops the initial formula based on your brief:

  2. Lab-scale batching: Small batches (100-500g) are prepared for testing
  3. Stability pre-check: Initial stability assessment (pH, viscosity, visual appearance)

Phase 3: Sample Evaluation & Refinement (Days 14-30)

Transition: Sample to Mass Production

The transition from lab sample to mass production involves critical steps:

  1. Raw material procurement: Same grade, same supplier as sample — no substitutions without approval
  2. Batch size scaling: Lab batches (500g) → Pilot (10kg) → Production (500kg+)
  3. Equipment qualification: Verify that production equipment achieves same results
  4. In-process QC: Checkpoints at mixing, emulsification, filling, sealing
  5. Finished product QC: Appearance, pH, viscosity, microbial test, weight check
  6. Retention samples: Factory retains samples from each production batch
